A Safe, Spa-Level Experience at Home

We follow state cosmetology requirements and industry best practices for mobile spray tanning.

Heavenly Tan technicians are trained, insured, and equipped with professional-grade solutions. The recommendations below help you prepare, protect sensitive skin, and know what to expect during service.

Before Your Appointment

  • Exfoliate 24 hours in advance and arrive clean, dry, and free of lotions, deodorant, fragrance, or oil.
  • Complete the client intake form truthfully so we know about allergies, medications, or recent cosmetic treatments.
  • Schedule shaving or waxing at least 24 hours before the appointment to avoid irritation.
  • Prepare a ventilated space large enough for our pop-up tent (roughly 7’ x 7’) with access to a grounded outlet.
  • Set the thermostat between 68°F and 72°F to maintain comfort during and after the session.

Contraindications & When to Pause

Please reschedule or consult your physician if you:

  • Have active skin infections, open wounds, fresh tattoos, sunburn, or peeling skin.
  • Recently underwent laser treatments, chemical peels, or cosmetic procedures within the last 48 hours.
  • Are experiencing respiratory illness, fever, or any contagious condition.
  • Are pregnant in the first trimester or have been advised by a healthcare provider to avoid DHA-based products.
Medical clearance

Clients managing chronic conditions (including asthma, eczema, or autoimmune disorders) should speak with their healthcare provider and share any restrictions before booking.

During Your Appointment

  • Technicians set up a sanitized pop-up tent, HVLP sprayer, barrier cream, and protective drop cloth.
  • Disposable undergarments, nose filters, lip balm, and eye protection are available upon request.
  • We apply pH balancing prep spray, custom-blended solution, and finishing powder to reduce transfer.
  • Technicians wear gloves and masks, disinfect touch points between clients, and bag disposable waste for removal.
  • Expect the full appointment to take 30–45 minutes, including setup, application, and thorough drying.

Aftercare Essentials

  • Avoid moisture (sweat, rain, showers) until your first rinse—2–4 hours for express formulas or 8–12 hours for classic solutions.
  • Choose loose, dark clothing and open footwear to prevent rubbing or solution transfer.
  • Use sulfate-free, moisturizing products to extend your tan and pat skin dry after bathing.
  • Delay intense workouts, saunas, or swimming for 24 hours for best results.
  • Contact us if you experience irritation; discontinue any new lotions or products applied post-tan.

Allergies, Sensitivities & Patch Testing

Although DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is widely regarded as safe for topical use, reactions can occur. Notify us if you have a history of allergies to sunless tanning solutions, fragrances, or cosmetic preservatives. We will gladly perform a patch test at least 24 hours prior to a full application.

Emergency response

If you experience difficulty breathing, swelling, or severe rash after your appointment, seek immediate medical care and inform the technician so we can document the incident.

Hygiene & Sanitation Standards

  • Equipment is cleaned and disinfected with hospital-grade solutions between appointments.
  • Disposable items (gloves, filters, wipes) are single-use only and sealed before arrival.
  • Technicians wash and sanitize hands before setup, during glove changes, and after the service.
  • Any linens or props used for contouring are laundered in hot water and sealed until the next appointment.

We are happy to coordinate accommodations for mobility limitations, fragrance sensitivities, or other needs. Reach out prior to booking so we can plan equipment placement and timing.
